Lister Community School

Lister Community School is a large, 11-16 comprehensive school.  We are a mixed school that was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2013 and has just celebrated its 6th consecutive year of record breaking exam results.

We are determined to build on our most recent Ofsted judgement and continue our journey to becoming ‘Outstanding’ in the next two years.  Our motto is “always aiming for excellence’.

Our November 2013 Ofsted report spoke of the school’s ‘consistent focus on raising the quality of teaching and developing a culture of learning and high aspirations across the school’. Recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country (DfE, January 2014) this is reflected in our sustained drive to become an Outstanding school with our Progress 8 at +0.47 and 5(A*-C) including English & Maths at 66%, the sixth consecutive year this has increased.

Coordinator for EAL

 School Teachers’ Pay scale, plus TLR 2B allowance (£4,587)

 We are looking to appoint a dynamic EAL Coordinator.  This role is vital to our improvement and will include oversight of our processes for supporting and tracking the progress of our EAL pupils.  We will only appoint a candidate who we believe has the capacity to make an exceptional contribution to EAL provision across the whole school and enable us to achieve our goal of all students leaving Lister having made real and substantial progress in their learning.

The successful candidate will work with members of the English faculty along with other teams to continue to develop and improve learning in students who use English as an additional language.
